PHOTO COURTESY OF THE MINT MUSEUM Art, culture and heritage at Mint Museum Randolph Start your day exploring Charlotte's artistic side at the Mint Museum on Randolph Road. The 1837 structure once housed the original Charlotte Mint and was moved to the Randolph location in the 1930s when it was repurposed as North Carolina's first art museum. Today, it houses ancient American art, ceramics, European and African collections, and an 18,000-volume research library. In August, explore the "East Meets West" exhibit, which features a rare collection of books that document the impact of Chinese culture on Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries; each title has been translated into multiple languages and was a best-seller in its day. As a bonus, Bank of America and Merrill Lynch customers receive free admission Aug. 6-7 simply by showing their credit or debit cards. It's all part of Bank of America's Museums on Us ® program. If the weather is nice, enjoy the beautiful park setting surrounding the museum. Neighborhood: Eastover 3 TO SEE IN 28207 By Emily Farrington Smith What's in a number? Lots. Each of Charlotte's ZIP codes encompasses diverse enclaves that are full of life and culture. 62 AUGUST 2016
