Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade
By Torie Robinette
Every August, Charlotte plays host to one of the most popular pride
celebrations in the Southeast and the largest pride celebration in the
Carolinas: the Charlotte Pride Festival & Parade. This year, on Aug. 20-21
from noon to 6 p.m., more than 100,000 people will come together
over the course of the free two-day festival and parade, which brings
rainbow-clad families, young people, professionals, people of faith and
others to Uptown Charlotte. The event, which features local and national
entertainers, artists, retailers, restaurants and more, is the culmination
of Charlotte Pride Week. Afterward, participants mingle around town
to experience the city's vibrant and varied LGBTQ nightlife scene. The
festival zone is located on South Tryon Street.
