Continuum
You might have to crane your neck in order to
appreciate Continuum, the first curved surface
exterior fresco by Ben Long.
The public artwork, completed in 1998, is located
in the dome of Transamerica Square on North Tryon
Street in Uptown Charlotte.
The fresco features several faces and images
iconic to North Carolina—from The University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill's mascot, Ramses, to
former Bank of America Chairman and CEO Hugh
McColl, who can be found casually looking out from
the edge of the painting.
The work also includes a self-portrait of the painter
at his easel, with his wife and four sons beside him.
