Panaderia Odalys. The small chain
confectionary boasts 10 stores
across the Carolinas, with its flagship
located in 28205. Opened by Gustin
Servantes in 2001, the owner has
just one requirement: Everything is
handmade. Authentic desserts fill the
glass casings from chocolate-covered
conchas and orejas puff pastries to
freshly baked tres leches cakes and
more. To purchase, grab a silver tray
and a set of tongs, then weigh-in at the
counter. At this cash-only joint, take
comfort if your eyes are bigger than
your stomach, because nothing in the
cases costs more than $1.
