It has been tagged as the lights and sounds of a movement in progress. fi ve TO TRY CHARLOTTE SYMPHONY: PIXAR IN CONCERT MAY 6 • BELK THEATER AT BLUMENTHAL PERFORMING ARTS CENTER From the "Toy Story" trilogy to "The Incredibles" and "UP," Pixar has given us some of the most beloved characters in movie history. This visually stunning family show features montages of memorable clips from every one of Pixar's 14 fi lms. It's shown in concert alongside the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, which performs the amazing fi lm scores live. JULIANNE AND DEREK HOUGH: MOVE - BEYOND - LIVE ON TOUR MAY 10 • OVENS AUDITORIUM The Hough siblings are promising fans their biggest and best show yet, with brand-new stage production inspired by the elements—earth, wind, fi re and water—which the duo has infused into fresh, high-impact choreography that only they can deliver. The show will bring fans on a journey of dance and music, taking inspiration directly from the four elements as an exploration of the human relationship with nature. CIRCLE K SPEED STREET PRESENTED BY COCA-COLA & COCA-COLA 600 MAY 25-28 • UPTOWN & CHARLOTTE MOTOR SPEEDWAY The Circle K Speed Street presented by Coca-Cola transforms the streets of Uptown Charlotte into one of the largest consumer events in the Southeast. With live musical entertainment from DJ Jazzy Jeff, Billy Currington and Jake Owen and appearances by top NASCAR premier series drivers and celebrities, this is an event not to be missed. The weekend culminates with the running of the 58th annual Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on May 28. & 2017 CHARLOTTE ASIAN FESTIVAL AND DRAGON BOAT FESTIVAL RACE MAY 13 • RAMSEY CREEK PARK The 18th Annual Charlotte Asian Festival and the 12th Annual Charlotte Dragon Boat Festival Race celebrate Asian cultures, diversity and history. Dragon boat racing originated more than 2,300 years ago on the life-sustaining rivers of Southern China. The Charlotte race is an open competition to anyone 15 years of age or older. SOUTH END HOPS FESTIVAL MAY 13 • 308 W. CARSON BLVD. Dozens of breweries will convene in Charlotte's Historic South End to satiate the taste buds of any beer lover. The South End Hops Festival features a shaded beer garden, live music, nearly half a dozen food trucks and a bistro seating area to enjoy it all. The event supports the mission of RescuedMe, which saves and rehabilitates dogs, placing them in loving homes.
