Give Thanks Why watch the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade at home when you can experience the Queen City's version for yourself? The Novant Health Thanksgiving Day Parade is the Southeast's largest Thanksgiving Day parade and is sure to get you in the mood to stuff your face and count your blessings with family and friends. For over 70 years, people have gathered in Uptown to watch floats, marching bands and performers delight the crowd as they usher in the holiday season. The parade is also the start of Uptown's holiday makeover, which includes tree lightings, Christmas markets, light displays, and ice skating rinks. Show off your triple axel (er, OK, your ability to skate forward without falling maybe?) at Holiday On Ice, located on the NASCAR Hall of Fame Plaza. No matter how you fare, you can always grab hot chocolate from Amelie's French Bakery when you're done. Maybe you should throw in a salted caramel brownie, too. You know, for good measure. Speaking of sweets, the Ritz-Carlton goes all out when it comes to gingerbread house decorating. This creation is more like a gingerbread Kardashian-level mansion. Stop by their lobby and peep the insanely ornate work of art. While you're Uptown, you'll also want to browse the Charlotte Christmas Market. This adorable, European-inspired market has live performances, food and drinks, and plenty of trinkets and crafts if you're in need of stocking stuffers. PHOTO BY KYO H.
