Athleisure For the casual fan and the committed aficionado alike, Charlotte is certainly a sports-lover's city. "Keep Pounding" with the Carolina Panthers when they take on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or the Seattle Seahawks at Bank of America Stadium. Or stop by Unknown Brewing in Uptown to send off the team when they head to away games (the bus passes by the cheering taproom shortly after it opens). For more game-day revelry, catch a game at the Spectrum Center, where the Charlotte Hornets are celebrating 30 years of basketball this year. You can also cheer on the city's beloved minor league hockey team, the Charlotte Checkers, when they play at Bojangles' Coliseum. If you have an allegiance to a particular team or your guests are afraid of missing their hometown match, Charlotte's definitely got a bar filled with other fans wearing the same colors: Buffalo Bills fans meet at Lebowski's Neighborhood Grill, Washington Redskins fans go to Whisky River, Cincinnati Bengals fans go to Greystone Pub, the list goes on. Soccer fans should check out Courtyard Hooligans in Uptown's Brevard Court for a rowdy game-watching experience. Before your visitors depart, make sure they're repping the Queen City accordingly with gear from the local team stores. Both the Panthers and the Hornets have extensive shops with plenty of spirit available for purchase for men, women and kids. You can also pick up some swag at the NASCAR Hall of Fame's Gear Shop to rep your favorite lead-footed athlete. Be sure to make a pit stop in the Hall of Fame itself to try out their high- tech race simulators. Play Host for the Holidays PHOTO BY KYO H.
