Babies on Board Charlotte has plenty of activities that will appeal to youngsters. Children will love Discovery Place Science's hands-on approach to learning. From mammals and plants to creepy-crawlies, exhibits are ever changing and will captivate little ones. Next, head to ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center, where you'll find interactive exhibits, a sprawling library for both children and teens, state- of-the-art theaters, and events that appeal to all ages. When the kids have explored, run, and pulled knobs and pushed buttons to their hearts' content, head to 7th Street Public Market for lunch. There, you can choose from stalls that serve specialty grilled cheese sandwiches, pizzas, crepes and pasta. When finished, hop on the LYNX Blue Line light rail to get dessert at Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams in South End. They've got flavors like Brambleberry Crisp and Salty Caramel, so it's definitely not your typical trip to the scoop shop. Once the inevitable sugar rush hits, pound the pavement on the Rail Trail to burn some energy. Kids will love running down the path (they're sure to encounter a dog or two in need of a pet), and parents will find plenty of shops worth browsing along the way. If you like this… Order your Thanksgiving dinner from Big View Diner. With kids in the picture, you'll want to pick up a hot- and-ready meal (for 12) on Turkey Day. PHOTO BY KYO H.
