Meal Prep If you're hosting some serious foodies, you'll want to show them the wide array of cuisine the Queen City has to offer. Taste Carolina Gourmet Food Tours visits Uptown restaurants, providing Charlotte newcomers with a good introduction to our city's food scene. FEAST Food Tours also treks through of a number of Charlotte neighborhoods, including South End, Dilworth and NoDa. Tours start at $60 per person and let you get an up-close and personal look at the magic behind each dish as you chat with key players at the eateries. Finally, with seven walking tour varieties, Tour De Food specializes in blending fine dining with hole-in-the- wall favorites—the perfect selection for eclectic eaters. Are your guests hungry for more? Continue the culinary crawl by booking local cooking class while they're in town. The Community Culinary School of Charlotte teaches a host of public classes. Learn easy weeknight meals, pie making and more. For those with a sweet tooth, Cocoa Lab's classes are a must try. Located in the Ritz-Carlton, Charlotte, the lab puts on dessert-focused courses in the hotel's behind-the-scenes kitchen. There's also Chef Alyssa's Kitchen, run by local entrepreneur Alyssa Wilen; book one of her scheduled classes (holi- day-themed classes fill up fast), or plan a private event for larger gatherings. Before your crew leaves town, be sure to shop local goods to help them bring the taste of Charlotte to their kitchen. Head to Pour Olive on East Boulevard to sample and buy some of the 40 cold-pressed ol- ive oils and balsamic vinegars available. Look for a pinch of this or a dab of that at Savory Spice Shop at Atherton Mill and Market. Or stop by Orrman's Cheese Shop in 7th Street Public Market to jump- start their charcuterie boards.
