If you've got friends or family coming into town for Thanksgiving or, really, any time of year, you'll want to make sure you spend plenty of time enjoying Charlotte. Whether you're a foodie family, a more nature-focused group, or a gang that lives for touchdown passes, here are some itineraries to make your visit perfect. Garden Party The entire town of Belmont is the perfect setting for holiday magic. Plan your trip around a visit to Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Starting Nov. 23, you can catch their Holidays at the Garden event, featuring breathtaking light displays, live music and more. It's the perfect way to welcome the holiday season and runs until Jan. 6. When you're done, grab a bite to eat at Seven Oaks Café, a Southern farm-to-table restaurant from the same folks behind The String Bean. Situated in the historic John Davidson McLean House, which was built in the 1850s, this eatery offers plenty of hearty, tasty options for both lunch and dinner in a serene, plantation-style setting—hence the name "Seven Oaks." Brunch goers, make this trip on a Sunday to enjoy all the spoils of farm-fresh break- fast selections. Finish out the day by exploring Belmont's charming downtown, which is a quick drive from Seven Oaks. The town's main drag has a bounty of shopping options, including Catawba River Antique Mall, where you can browse over 60,000 square feet of treasures including clothing, jewelry and home décor. Doc's Basement Comics is stockpiled with racks upon racks of collectable reads. And the Belmont General Store is a landmark establishment, there to remind you of how life was in small-town America before the days of Amazon Prime. Grab a scoop of ice cream at the counter and browse the knick-knacks. SEVEN OAKS CAFÉ DOWNTOWN BELMONT 38 NOVEMBER 2018
