APPLAUD
PERFECT PLIÉS
ON THE STAGE
The sounds of spirited chants
disappear as you enter the dimmed
Patricia McBride and Jean-Pierre
Bonnefoux Center for Dance. The
theater is abuzz with anticipation
for the creativity and imaginative
genius that are synonymous with
Charlotte Ballet's "Innovative Works"
production. Dressed to impress in
a fashionable frock or sleek sports
coat, you find your seat and await the
performance of a lifetime.
On stage, dancers complete grand
jetés across the floor in effortlessly
coordinated harmony. Now in its 20th
year, "Innovative Works" continues
to inspire audiences with displays
of refined strength and poise.
Composed of multiple performances,
which are often introduced by the
choreographer, the production
stretches the imagination and invites
the audience to find meaning in each
piece.
The intimate theater setting sets the
stage for a post-performance dessert
reception, where the final curtain
call leads to an evening of mingling
with fellow patrons, dancers and the
creative mind behind "Innovative
Works," Jean-Pierre Bonnefoux.
